Mary Toft was a woman in 1700’s England who became infamous for birthing rabbits. Doctors believed her, midwives believed her, townsfolk believed her. But not everyone did. She was persecuted and ridiculed. But she held true to her story: While toiling in the field, she became mesmorized by a rabbit & went on to become pregnant, but come delivery, she produced various bits of rabbit.

Jackalopes are a taxidermy trick - stitching antlers onto the head of a dead rabbit. But all dead creatures were once living.

This is a play about love & medical abuse & shaky realities & carrotcake.

JANUARY 2021: Interviewed by Kevin Poole for The Rap Sheet about directing, designing, and my least favorite Peloton commercials.

"Man, I love spectacular things. When things become spectacle, I think they need weight. If it's pretty, but it doesn't make you cry, then it's not doing anything. I think if you're coming to see an Alex play you're probably, statistically, going to get some teenage girls, you're going to get some sort of body gore– with a trigger warning! Hopefully you're not getting a lot of dramatic pauses."

OCTOBER 2020: Directed Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz's Trials of the House with Hamlet Isn't Dead's "Contemporaries of Color" series

"Love triangle? More like love octagon. It's riveting, romantic, and a whole lot of fun...

Hamlet Isn't Dead brings their signature style of joyful, intimate theatre to a new (to us) playwright as this signature classic of Mexican literature meets the immediate playfulness of NYC's 847th-best theatre company. "

MARCH 2020: Interviewed by Jay Duckworth for Stage Directions Magazine about the creation of fake raw meat for Blood.

"It was written in the script that he eats a little at first; picking at it. But eventually he starts to eat it in large amounts. You can see the problem is one, that’s unsafe for an actor and two, we can’t afford real delicious steak tartare. So, Alex did something inspired. She found a vegan recipe for Rice Krispies Treats"
